Hermès Pleated Scarf 90 cm – Railing – Joachim Metz (1998)
Pièce unique.
Railing is a Hermès scarf designed by Joachim Metz and issued in 1998. Rare and sophisticated, this design has not been reissued by Hermès, which makes it a piece particularly sought after by collectors.
This pleated version gives the design a very distinctive texture. The silk, printed and then pleated, reveals the motif in fragments, in a play of lines, reflections and relief. The motif plays on an architectural composition, in a harmony of deep blue, steel blue, silver grey and gold. The pleating accentuates the contemporary dimension of the design and gives the piece a discreet but very refined presence. In excellent condition, with box.

What is a Hermès pleated scarf?
The Hermès pleated scarf is a refined variation of the classic 90 cm scarf. The silk is pleated after the motif has been printed, using a delicate process that creates a three-dimensional texture and a very particular movement.
This permanent pleating changes the apparent dimensions of the scarf once worn. It must not be ironed, so as to preserve its structure. Very flattering around the neck, it immediately adds relief to a simple outfit.
A word from Diane
Railing is a rare piece, all the more interesting in this pleated version. Joachim Metz’s design, already very graphic, gains depth here from the relief of the silk. Its palette of blues, silver grey and gold gives it an understated, modern and timeless look. A discreet but singular scarf, ideal for a collector or for anyone looking for a rare, elegant Hermès that is less expected than a classic motif.
